As we suspected, we were unable to match the tile on the original backsplash. This project just never seems to end! We were so hoping that we didn't need to rip out the old tile and start all over again but, of course, this is what we are faced with now. A quick trip to a local "big box" store yielded a great find, however, and we are very happy with our choice. I have always admired the small glass tile mosaics but they are quite expensive and an entire wall of these would be out of our tiny price range. We decided to combine them with white subway tile as an accent which makes this project much more affordable. The narrow, rectangular look and the colors remind me of older stacked slate fireplaces in homes from the 50s and 60s. Since our kitchen is painted shades of gray the colors are absolutely perfect and the darker glass adds a very cool accent. Here are some photos of the tiles. We've removed the old tiles and are preparing to place the new ones.

We Love The New Backsplash
Check out these photos of the finished backsplash. We're so glad we were forced to remove the old tiles because we like the new pattern and color so much better. Even though we already have a huge kitchen window and lots of light in the kitchen we find that the whilte tiles makes it an even brighter space.
