The Backsplash Dilemna

The flooring dilemna has been solved so it's time for a new item to obsess about. We have so many huge windows in our "passive solar", mid-century home that blank wall space is at a premium. The kitchen is no exception. During our first kitchen redo project we installed a tile backsplash above our sink. The area is not large, about 8 square feet. Now that we are finally getting ready to complete our second kitchen redo we'd like to install a backsplash on the remaining small area of wall space. Unfortunately, we purchased our original tile pattern at Home Depot and the design is no longer available. I drove all over town today to various tile stores to no avail. Here are some photos of the tiled area and what little blank wall still remains to be tiled. We really don't want to have to rip out the original tile (we like it) but what will we do with the rest of the walls? For the time being, I guess we'll just paint them. That way, if some amazing idea pops into my head for matching something different to the black and white tile design we would easily be able to just install it. As I said, the remaining, untiled space isn't large but whatever goes there, I'd like it to complement the tile already in place. By the way, the little "window" next to the tile appears to be a backyard "pass through". This corner used to be on the back end of our house, before the carport and breezeway were enclosed. We used to think this little window was cool and we had plans to put it to use but we were burglarized a while ago and the little punks entered the house through this window. So, I guess we're going to board it up and sheetrock over it. There is another rectangular window between the kitchen and the living room and we plan to leave this open. Whatever treatment we use to match the kitchen backsplash tile will need to be done to a very narrow spot above this window. We don't plan to use the window as a pass through so we may cover it over with some sort of cool retro design piece.
